My Memorial Day
In the morning, Mama, Dada, and I walked down to the village with Gram D to see the town's Memorial Day parade. We heard all kinds of music and saw a lot of American flags. A veteran from World War II spoke about how we need to remember and reach out to the veterans from all wars---from his time up to today's veterans. Of course, I completely agree, which is why I was making such a ruckus while he was talking. Then the parade began, and I stood at the corner where all of the fire trucks were; it was awesome!
After the parade, Dada took me to the train station right up the block for a special surprise. While Mama walked home with Gram D, I boarded a train with Dada. I could not believe it! I LOVE trains!
At first I was a little scared but when Dada helped me look out the window, I was super excited. When we finally reached our destination (a few towns away), there was Mama...with the car! Wow! What a fun little trip.
But the day was not over as Mama and Dada brought me to another parade and then one of our favorite parks by the lake. I waved to all of the ducks there, and played on the swings. I had so much fun! What a great day!
And it makes the day even that much nicer to think that I am able to experience all of this in part because of people willing to fight for my freedom.
God bless them, and God bless America.
