The Most Miserable Photo Shoot EVER!
I had a *terrible* day on June 12. I didn't sleep well the night before (teething), and I didn't nap great either. The whole day was just one big Crankfest.
So, on the spur of the moment, Mommy thought that she would cheer me up by bringing me to the mall for a free balloon and a ride in a buggy-stroller. She scooped me up, and off to the mall we went.
While there, we passed a lady with a big, yellow balloon (not the small free ones that I usually get). I got so excited! She told Mommy that she was training to be a photographer with "The Picture People"---a place that takes kids' photos next to fun props and backgrounds---and that she had to do a certain number of pictures to complete her training. She offered Mommy and me a free session, complete with a free 8x10. She stressed it again---totally FREE.
Mommy was reluctant. Afterall, I had been so sad all day (up until I saw that yellow balloon!). But the lady begged, and convinced Mommy that I looked so happy now. So, Mommy wheeled me in to the shop, with my new big balloon, but kept saying, "This might be tough. She really is having a tough day." Plus, Mommy fretted, I didn't even have on nice clothes---and both pants and shirt had stains from my last meal! But, "What the hey!" thought Mommy. We were helping someone...
...and so began the nightmare that was my second professional photo shoot.
From the moment Mommy took me out of the stroller, I cried. I wanted Mommy to hold me, desperately. I hated the props. I was scared of the toys. I didn't like the flash. And the lady was at a loss with how to cheer me up. It wasn't her fault; NOTHING made me happy---except when we were done, I was back in the stroller, and we had left the store. Only then was I happy again.
But, and here's the rub...the lady's manager asked us if we would sign a waiver to submit one of the photos---the close-up---to their headquarters for possible inclusion in upcoming promos. Mommy laughed, "You must be kidding!?" But she agreed. So we got a free photo, we helped someone, I entered a contest, and I fell asleep for the night extra early.
Here's hoping that tomorrow is a much happier day. Unexpected photo shoots or not.
