Mommy Jinxed Herself

Right after Mommy posted the last entry about how content I was (scroll down), I woke up and was not happy. Despite Mommy's best efforts to soothe me---including food, diaper changes, a walk, running the vacuum, singing to me, rocking me to sleep, tummy time, burping me, etc.---I was NOT HAPPY on and off from about 11am until 3pm (when I fell asleep again). A very tired Mommy kept telling me that it was okay...we all have days like that.
These pictures were taken during my brief period of contentment before our walk.

My Routine (Give Yourself Some Time to Read This)

Some people ask my mommy, "So what do you do all day?"
Well, she takes care of me, of course.
Here's a *typical* day in the life of me, Leah:
* I wake up around 6am. Mommy and Daddy greet with "Good morning, Baby!" (They call me "Baby" so much so that I'm going to think that's my name!) I grin back at them. I'm a morning person, just like Mommy.
* I eat breakfast in bed---Mommy and Daddy's bed. Mommy turns on the FX channel for her quick TV fix while I eat---a rerun of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
* Mommy brings the bouncey seat into the bathroom, and I sit in the bouncey seat while Mommy gets dressed for the day.
* Daddy gets up and gets ready for work.
* Mommy and I come downstairs where I get changed into my outfit for the day, and Mommy washes my face and changes my diaper.
* We kiss Daddy goodbye, and tell him that we love him.
* I eat my "second breakfast." Mommy makes funny faces at me, hoping I will laugh. (I'm not there just yet though.)
* Mommy changes my diaper.
* Mommy feeds the very hungry and very loud kitties. Then the kitties go outside. (They ask to go in and out of the house all day long, and Mommy obliges.)
* Mommy and I take a walk to the cafe down the block. Mommy gets a White Chocolate Mocha (iced or hot, depending on the weather). We talk to the neighbors along our walk.
* We walk to the post office to drop off mail. Sometimes we walk up to see Gram D. at her work or we walk up to the village to do more errands (go to the bank or the pharmacy, etc.) or just to take a longer walk.
* We come home, and I eat. Mommy changes me again.
* I take my quick morning nap. It lasts about 45 minutes.
* Mommy takes this time to call Grandma and Grandpa L. in Florida to see how everything is going and to chat.
* I wake up, and Mommy changes my diaper. We do "Tummy Time" and Mommy puts me in the Baby Bjorn (a baby sling) or carries me as she does chores. (It seems like Mommy is always doing dishes or laundry.)
* Mommy changes my diaper, and I eat again. Mommy turns on some CDs and sings to me and dances with me. Right now, our CD player has the following CDs in it: two Disney movie soundtracks, the Josh Grobin CD, The Best of U2, and the CD that Mommy and Daddy made as a favor for their wedding.
* OOPS! I spit up; Mommy changes me into another outfit.
* Sometimes we go out to do more errands or visit with friends and family. On Friday, Mommy and I go to a "New Mommy's Class" from 1:30-3pm that is affliated with the hospital that I was born at.
* I do my one poop for the day, and Mommy changes me. OOPS! Poop gets on my "onesie" and my socks somehow; Mommy changes me into outfit #3.
* Now I take my long nap of the day, typically between 2pm and 6pm. Mommy usually takes this time to eat lunch and catch up on bills, work, phone calls, email, my website, thank you notes, laundry folding, vacuuming, etc.
* Mommy makes the bottles up for the rest of the day and night.
* Mommy starts dinner for Mommy and Daddy.
* I wake up and Mommy changes and feeds me. Mommy puts me in the bouncey seat so I can watch her cook. OOPS! I spit up on Mommy; Mommy changes herself into outfit #2.
* 6:20pm---Daddy's home! Daddy kisses Mommy and me hello. After a little de-stressing, Daddy holds me and cuddles with me. He gives me what Mommy calls "Fuzzy Kisses" because of his beard. My reaction to the Fuzzy Kisses makes Mommy and Daddy laugh.
* Mommy and Daddy eat while I sit in the bouncey seat again. Most times I just sit and watch them, but sometimes I cry until they hurry up and finish dinner and pick me up.
* Mommy goes next door to say a quick hi to Gram and see how Pop is doing.
* I do more "Tummy Time" with Daddy. Daddy feeds me. OOPS! Daddy needs Mommy to grab a burp cloth! Thankfully, Mommy gets it in time.
* It's officially "Lock Down" for the kitties. They usually get upset but they are not allowed outside when it's dark.
* Now it's time to get me ready for bed. Two or three times a week that means a bath in my tub in the kitchen. Mommy and Daddy both help with bath time.
* I get a new diaper and get changed into my pajamas.
* Mommy puts two bottles into a cooler to bring upstairs for my 2am feeding. Mommy runs the dishwasher filled with dinner's dishes and my bottles.
* Daddy runs out to 7-11 to pick up milk, Mountain Dew, lottery tickets, and anything else that we need.
* Mommy takes out my outfits for tomorrow.
* I get one last diaper change before bed.
* I eat a little more before bed.
* Daddy and Mommy take turns on who will rock me to sleep. (Lately I am fussy when it comes to nighttime so it can take a while before I'm ready to go upstairs with Mommy and go in the bassinet.)
* I WANT MY PACIFIER! And I get it. And, slowly...ever so slowly...I nod off to sleep. (It's between 8pm and 9pm.)
* Mommy or Daddy brings me upstairs, along with my bottles, my white noise/music box, my warmed-up heating pad (to help me stay warm while I sleep), and a glass of water for the mommy.
* Mommy and Daddy get a little downtime with each other to talk about their day and anything else on their minds.
* Mommy goes to bed; Daddy goes back downstairs to the computer to do more work or to check up on his fantasy football or beloved Red Sox. Daddy comes to bed around 11pm.
* I sleep until 2am (on a good day). I wake up and eat...A LOT! (This is usually my biggest meal of the day---about 8-10 oz. of formula) Sometimes I can go right back to sleep until 6am, or sometimes I stay awake with a very tired Mommy for an hour of rocking and being held until I go back to bed for another few hours.
* And then it's 6am and it starts all over again. And that's my typical day!

My First Real Smile =)

Mommy saw my first real smile on Saturday. We both awoke from bed and then Mommy started singing to me, like she always does. It was some silly song (something to the tune of "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands"). Well, that did it! I showed Mommy my pearly gums! Now Mommy won't stop singing because she wants to see me smile again. Don't worry, Mommy, I will!
Full House

It was a full house at Gram and Pop D.'s. Aunt Adrienne (see picture) came all the way from California to see me for the first time; Aunt Bonnie came down from Connecticut, and Uncle Robbie (see picture) and Aunt Quynh came out from Brooklyn. Even our cat, Lucy--who must have missed Mommy and me since we were living at Gram and Pop's this weekend--came over for a visit, much to the displeasure of Gram's cat, Fatty. A lot of laughs and a little wine---none for me, of course. It was a good weekend.
The Birds and the Bees

(Actually, it's just the bees.)
Mommy and Daddy learned that we had a yellow jacket nest on the side of our house. The bees started coming inside last Thursday, and Mommy was forced to call an exterminator. I had to leave the house for a few days, so Mommy packed me and all of my stuff up and we moved in with Gram and Pop D. (We live next door to them so it wasn't a far move.) Thank goodness for Gram and Pop! Mommy and I stayed with them from Thursday until Monday. (Daddy stayed at home since he was on 24/7 call with work and needed his computer at a moment's notice.)
Despite the circumstances for moving in, it was a really fun visit! Here I am with Gram D.
