Birds of a Feather

It goes like this: one morning, Mommy takes me to the store, I fall asleep in the car, Mommy makes a U-turn, and when I wake up, I'm in a magical place filled with beautiful animals! Wow! What a wonderful dream...except that it wasn't a dream!

Mommy took me back to one of my favorite places---the aquarium. Now, I know that you're looking at the picture and saying, "I don't think she means 'aquarium'." But I do! It just happened to be on the day that a local parrot organization was there. They rescue and care for exotic birds that have been abused or abandoned. The bird that Mommy is holding is Mishca. She is 5 years old (which is like a baby since parrots can live to be 75 years old or older!). I forget what kind of parrot Mishca is but Mommy was told that the breed that Mishca is will most likely be extinct in the wild by the time I am Mommy's age. How sad.

So, Mommy gave a donation, and we got our picture taken. If Mommy looks a litte less than "picture-ready" you have to understand that she had to hold me, hold her arm straight for the heavy bird to sit on, and she had to hold my arm so I didn't lunge to try to grab the bird---I have NO fear when it comes to petting and loving all kinds of animals. Mommy did manage to smile but she was very nervous the whole time.

The funny thing is that I learned the word "bird" just last week, and now point to all of the birds in our backyard. Mishca is A LOT bigger, of course, and prettier than those birds. I just wish I could pet her!!

Get the Point?!

I am a very curious baby. I point at things and people and animals and...well...anything, and say "Ah!" I either want to know the thing's name or I want to touch it. I have learned people's names, colors, and animals by simply pointing and having Mommy or Daddy tell me what it is. Thankfully, my parents get the point of the entire exercise!

I Am Baptized

On June 25, I was bapitized. My godparents are my Aunt Bonnie and my Uncle Robert. It was a nice, private ceremony in the late morning. Afterwards, we came home and Mommy and Daddy hosted a celebration in honor of the baptism with the family. I had a lot of fun. I was even lucky enough to receive such nice presents! My family is very generous and kind. My cousin, Katie, even bought me a musical giraffe with her own money and made me a collage with pictures of...me! And everyone offered to hold me and hug me and play with me. Mommy even bought me some balloons! What a wonderful celebration for a special day. I will cherish this day always.
