My Unexpected Saturday Trip, Part II

After the zoo, we went a little further out to Mama's favorite vineyard and then to a different kind of farm to get Dada a homemade pie. Yeaaaaahhh...this WASN'T my favorite part of the trip...but I still was a very patient and good girl.

In fact, Mama and Dada were so proud of me that I made it all the way home just sitting in my car seat and entertaining myself (with my favorite stuffed animal---"Bear," with a book about baby animals, and laughing at Mama making funny faces and Dada taking a nap). It was really a fun trip (if nothing else, but to spend all of that time with both Mama and Dada).

My Unexpected Saturday Trip, Part I

Saturday, August 5: Mama and Dada took me out early to have some family fun. We took a really long car ride (I fell asleep). When I woke up, we were at an animal farm/petting zoo. I got to watch Mama feed bottles to baby goats. And Dada pointed out and named the animals for me (like a giraffe, a cougar, a zebra, and geese). I even got to ride a carousel for the very first time. Even Mama thought it was really fast for a carousel. (Can you pick us out in the picture?)

Yum, Yum, Ravioli!

When I turned 11 months, Mama started to try just regular solids with a bottle (no baby food). Mama gives me a lot of variety too. I have everything from green beans and mango to carrot/chicken ravioli and scrambled eggs (not all at the same meal, of course!). I just really like being able to pick up the food all by myself and put it in my mouth all by myself. It's fun AND nutritious.

So forget the jars of baby food---they're SO last month!

My First Step!

I took my very first, unassisted step on August 2---9 days before my first birthday!

Mama and Dada were playing with me in the home office room. Mama and Dada were on the floor, and I was twirling Dada's computer chair. Then all of a sudden I just let go of the chair and took a step towards Dada before making him catch me in his arms. Mama and Dada were shocked. They looked at each other. Mama asked Dada, "Was that a step?!?!!!" And Dada said, "I think so. I'd call that a step!" Then they got all excited, and I got kisses.

(If I knew that they would get so excited, I would have probably stepped sooner!)

I also should tell you that two weeks ago I learned how to go up the stairs. One day I tried it and the next day I was zooming all the way up to the top. I love going up the stairs...just as long as someone is behind me cheering me on!
